When our veterinary team makes specialist referrals, you’ll know your we’re doing all we can to help your pet.

Our veterinarian and veterinary technicians provide several pet services at our animal hospital, ranging from routine to advanced procedures. Though we handle the majority of your pet’s medical and surgical needs on site, we sometimes refer patients to veterinary specialists when advanced equipment or training will be advantageous.

Referral specialists, such as oncologists, ophthalmologists, and neurologists, have extensive experience and training in a particular area of veterinary medicine or surgery. Specialty clinics have specialized equipment to perform procedures that are not routinely performed by regular veterinary practitioners.

Blackburn Animal Hospital makes referral decisions to ensure that our patients receive the highest standard of care for best possible results. Be assured that when our veterinary team refers a patient to another hospital, we continue to stay involved with their care by communicating with the treating specialist and often providing any required after-care and rehabilitation.
